By His hand He created all things
How fulfilling. Taking something from a concept, a feeling, and out of pure love to make something that you call good, that you can delight in.
Over the last week, and in no comparison, I have taken the idea of making cards, to thank the friends and family that have helped with erecting our new fence, to its end.
I am new to this craft, and had a technique I wanted to use and thankfully some good friends to kick around the idea with, who offered another idea, and a husband who suggested the finishing touch.
This activity made me realise that I like doing this. I like to do all things well. I get a sense of fulfillment of doing more than just the bare essentials.
All this takes time and I have the liberty at present of only half the number of children at home (the others are with their grandparents) so slightly more conscious processing time.
Then the icing on the cake was making a (legal!) cd for a friend and desktop publishing a cover for it. She had just told me in casual conversation that she like the colour blue and pansies, so I was able to use these, and can't wait to see her face when its given to her.
Which brings me to another realisation about myself...I am beginning to tune in again to what other people like, further to just how they have their tea or coffee! This is something that I value and consistently did years ago, but children have dulled that acuity. I mean to say, you are talking to someone who used to keep a guest log for family and close friends that listed how they took their drinks, favourite foods or allergies, like and dislikes etc. I see this as 'listening' to people and while I may never again have the memory I once did, writing it down is no sin, is it?!
