Bugs came, he saw, he escaped twice

Last Saturday evening we had another visit from a lop-eared rabbit from two doors down. This time I decided to see if the owner would come to get it, picking it would be Sunday afternoon when he did.

Sunday came and went, Monday came and went, Tuesday came and went, Wednesday came and there was a very early knock, knock, knock on the door. Not the owner, but a MIDWIFE who lives 2 doors down and discovered 'Bugs' in her vegetable garden.

Seems like within 20 minutes of being let out that morning, 'Bugs' had gone a.w.o.l.

Once our morning breakfast routine resumed its normal rhythm I sat down to check my emails and what do you know, but the foreign language 'word of the day' was 'pregnant'! Not only that but the example phrase was "I think she is pregnant".

Hmmmm....and what am I to make something of this? Remember yesterday's post and DH praying for a midwife to come to us. He didn't exactly stipulate the terms and conditions or that she come bearing a flashing neon sign or anything.

What do you think?

Anyway, back to 'Bugs' - that afternoon Onyx and Ruby went along to see if the owner wanted to come and get their rabbit, to find only an 11-12 year old boy home alone (and that's illegal here). So we went back later, and the guy was so blasé it was strange. He was in no rush to get the rabbit back - seems like the rabbits vanishing tricks may have worn thin with him. I am not surprised though that the rabbit was playing Houdini - you should have seen how tiny that ark was. Oh I almost forgot to mention - the day that the rabbit turned up at our place he couldn't even jump forward - he did a funny sideways jump as he obviously hadn't had any room in the ark to move.

It escaped again Friday.

So it looks as if we have inherited a log-eared bunny to add to our menagerie of 4 hens. The things you do for your children - I am not even an animal person.

PS. We don't know if 'Bugs' is a he yet - we haven't looked. First things first - it's out to the hardware store to gather supplies to build a large hutch.
